Proposed BEFIT Directive: a real necessity or a new layer of unnecessary complexity?

On 12 September 2023, the European Commission adopted a key set of initiatives, including a proposal for a directive known as "BEFIT" ("Business in Europe: Framework for Income Taxation"). BEFIT aims to establish a common set of rules that allow EU companies to calculate their tax base using a formula, while ensuring that profits are shared between EU countries.
