Luxembourg Art Week, the Grand Duchy's leading contemporary art fair held annually in the heart of Luxembourg, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mélanie de Jamblinne de Meux as its new Director, following her role as Deputy Director, during which she worked closely with Alex Reding, founder, on the 2024 anniversary edition.
Mélanie de Jamblinne de Meux states: “I am delighted to continue building on the work accomplished over the past ten years and to rely on solid foundations. Luxembourg Art Week is, above all, an international hub for galleries, artists, collectors, and institutions, but also a platform for the Luxembourg and regional art scene. Together with the Luxembourg Art Week team, we are committed to strengthening both of these aspects for the 2025 edition and the years to come.”
With this appointment, Alex Reding is stepping back to focus on developing his galleries in Luxembourg and Brussels. However, he remains actively involved as a board member of both the company and the artcontemporain.lu non-profit organisation, which supports the event’s cultural program.
“Faced with the many challenges related to financial requirements, artistic freedom, international dynamics, and local scene development, Mélanie will lead with the composure needed to meet these diverse expectations.” – Alex Reding
Mélanie joined the Luxembourg Art Week team in September 2023, initially overseeing the program and public relations, then partnerships, before being appointed Deputy Director. Previously, she spent over four years in the programming team of Esch2022 – European Capital of Culture. She also contributed to coordinating several exhibitions organized by Lët’z Arles, a cultural association that promotes Luxembourgish artists annually at the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival. Deeply committed to the growth of the Luxembourg art scene and the power of networks, she has been a board member of Lët’z Arles and Amis des Musées Luxembourg since 2018. She also co-founded the Young Friends of Museums program, dedicated to young art enthusiasts. She studied communication, art history, and cultural project management.
